Welcome back to our (now every other) Weekly Fic Discussion post!

This post can be used for any kind of fic discussion you want, but there are also a few prompt questions each week. You can reply to all of them, one of them, or none of them if you have something else you want to talk about!

I have been excited about random content being so inspiring. NCT 127’s Deities of Seoul video is so cool and gave me so many thoughts and I barely write in that fandom. Also it did just make me so excited for their new music coming soon.

My sunny boy MJ dropped a new vlog (filmed before his enlistment) and it was also deeply inspiring.

Also my man Jinjin is now a DJ on a radio show for learning Korean, which just makes me even more determined to study hard and learn well.

I think one of the most meaningful comments I’ve received on a fic was when I was new to the fandom and an author whose fics I loved told me she loved one of my fics. That was a super cool moment.

ETA: What's the radio show JinJin is on? Because I'd listen to that even if I didn't understand him.

Jinjin’s radio show is called 아이돌 한국어 Let’s Learn Korean and there are already two episodes out on YouTube as I type this. (Also Pentagon’s Wooseok hosts a nighttime radio show called 펜타곤의 밤 라디오 Pentagon’s Night Radio on the same station if you’re a Universe.) Jinjin and Pentagon’s Kino had a Dive Studios podcast called Unboxing that was super fun (and the videos have English subs too).

I've been really enjoying it so far! If you watch the YouTube replays you can see the entire episode. On the app they cut out the songs he plays, which makes me kinda sad because seeing his taste in music is fascinating (as if he doesn't have a playlist on spotify he updates on the regular), but while I'm doing housework and stuff listening on the app is easier. I find I can understand people better in general when I can see them, though.

yeah, I'm not great at multitasking and always get distracted if I try to listen to shows/podcasts while doing something else, so I'll probably do the youtube replays too haha

Most excited about? the number of comebacks. Like, so many coming up! I love it.

The nicest comment I've ever gotten was on an Infinite Fic - 100 pieces, 92K words - and the commenter picked up on everything I stuck in there. The names of the ships. The jokes. Everything. I wanted to write a comment as much as theirs, and I couldn't do it. I just... didn't have the response to it.

In general, though, the best comment is the one that tells me someone keeps coming back to one of my fics. That's the biggest complement anyone could give me.

seeing ONEUS have fun with this comeback and knowing TBZ is about to drop teasers for their next comeback is making me so excited for october in general. thank god too, because real life has not been very exciting lately lol

and I love getting comments of any kind and length, I genuinely can't pick a favorite. I will say, though, whenever fandom friends and authors I admire comment on a fic I wrote I get all :') and it makes me extra happy when people mention reading more than one fic I wrote/rereading a certain fic, or when it's a rare pair fic and the comment has something to the effect of "I never even considered this ship but I liked it!" because yes, thank you for entertaining my brainworms even if they weren't part of your brainworm collection before <3

October is the Month Of Comebacks (at least for groups I listen to) and I’m very excited, especially for TXT and Seventeen. I’ve also seen rumors of a Le Sserafim cb floating around but it seems a bit too late for anything to happen this month on that front. Either way, exciting!! I’m also excited for Emo Fest posting to start, because even if I had to drop I know a ton of really great authors are participating and I’m excited to see what they’ve written!!

So many of the comments I’ve received are meaningful to me for one reason or another but a couple that I still think about are 1. Someone saying one of my fics helped them feel better on a bad day 2. A comment that compared one of my fics to sitting outside on a sunny day, and 3. A long comment that drew quotes from my fic to discuss how they felt about it as they read through it.
(I keep wanting to add more comments to this as I think about it because I really meant it when I said at a LOT of these comments are meaningful to me but I’ll stop at 3 haha)

I think my favourite comments are the ones that come from people whose names I recognise but whom I don't know outside of their comments? It just makes me feel warm and fuzzy whenever I see them pop up <3
