Reason for reccing: I can't stop thinking about this fic. I also recommend checking out "works inspired by this one" at the end, which is actually the fic I read first. This fic is atmospheric, complex, and fascinating, with a level of intertextuality that I don't see people use that often in fic. But mostly what I'm fascinated by is the ambiguity of the narrative and the way Dino's POV shapes our whole understanding of the story. You can take away very different interpretations of the events in this fic and I think that just contributes to the themes overall. Also, the author draws such believable relationship dynamics between characters who aren't necessarily the most popular ships in Seventeen ficdom, and casts everyone so believably in an academia AU (even though you know irl some of them haven't read a novel since high school...). This is really an incredible fic that deserves so much attention!

I'm assuming this is based on/inspired the viral Cat Person short story from a while back, so I am eyeing it wistfully (too busy right now) and eagerly adding it to my Marked for Later list. I haven't encountered much Dino/Jeonghan, which is a shame since I think there is a lot to unpack there, so looking forward to it for that reason too! Thanks for sharing!

Seconding this!! A super compelling fic that unfolds in such an interesting way, and in such a tangibly real setting. I have my own reading/interpretation and would be so curious to know what different people take away from it.
